Mayo Football League Extraordinary General Meeting confirmed for next month

The resolution to the Mayo Football League administration drama looks to reach its conclusion with the Connacht FA calling an EGM for February 4.

The entire Mayo football league management committee voluntarily stood down after mediation could not resolve disputes within the group on Monday evening with the Connacht FA assuming day to day operations of the league in Mayo.

A notice to clubs was issued by the provincial sporting body today to inform them of the process to host an EGM as the process begins to appoint a new league management committee.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 4, at 7.30 p.m. in the Castlecourt Hotel, Westport, with the sole purpose of electing key officer and committee positions within the league

According to the notice, the business of the EGM will be confined to the election of an Honorary Secretary and nine ordinary members of the League Management Committee.

Clubs have been invited to submit nominations for all positions, with each nomination required to include a brief biography of the nominee.

Nominations must be submitted to the Connacht FA Administrator by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28.

Each affiliated club is entitled to be represented at the meeting by two delegates, though voting will be limited to one vote per club.

The notice was issued by John Byrne, Chairman of the Connacht Football Association, who confirmed that the EGM is being convened specifically to fill the vacant roles and reconstitute the league’s management structure.
