Dull start giving way to brighter spells this weekend across Mayo
Saturday will begin on a rather dull note across the west, with mist and fog slow to clear in places.
Brighter spells will gradually develop through the day, with largely dry conditions overall, apart from the odd isolated shower.
Daytime temperatures will remain on the cool side, reaching between 3 and 7 degrees, with mostly light or variable cyclonic winds.
Looking ahead to the national outlook, the coming days will bring slightly cooler daytime temperatures and chilly nights, with frost and icy patches forming at times.
Low pressure will remain nearby, meaning a mix of sunshine and showers can be expected on most days.
Saturday night will be mostly dry and cloudy, although coastal areas may see a few showers.
Widespread mist and fog will develop once again, with frost patches forming under any clearer skies.
Lowest temperatures will range from -2 to +3 degrees in near-calm conditions.
On Sunday, mist and fog will linger in places, but conditions will be generally dry during the first half of the day, with brighter breaks developing further east.
During the afternoon, rain and drizzle will move into western counties, gradually spreading eastwards overnight and into Monday morning.
Highest temperatures on Sunday will range from 6 to 9 degrees in light to moderate south-easterly winds.
As rain continues to feed in overnight, temperatures will be relatively milder, with lows of between 2 and 6 degrees.
Sunday night will be rather cloudy, with outbreaks of rain and a southerly breeze.
More persistent rain will develop in western areas later in the evening, with lighter outbreaks elsewhere.
Lowest temperatures will fall to between 1 and 4 degrees.
