Mayo playwright returns to local stage with Sin & Tonic

WESTPORT playwright Fiona Hoban and The Unmasked Players are back with another original production.

Sin & Tonic will be on stage at Westport Town Hall Theatre later this month for three nights, January 29, 30 and 31.

In Sin and Tonic, a sudden death sends shockwaves through a quiet village, shaking its close-knit community to the core. Neighbours rally together for the traditional Irish wake.

At first, it's an evening of shared grief and cups of tea. But the calm is short-lived with the arrival of an unexpected visitor.

What follows is a cascade of revelations that threatens to unravel the very fabric of the community. Old wounds are reopened, secrets once hidden come into the light and truths long buried are finally heard.

As the night unfolds - and the alcohol flows - loyalties are tested, identities questioned, and fault lines show. By the time the deceased is taken to their final resting place, nothing - and no one - will ever be quite the same again.

Sin & Tonic is an emotionally charged and darkly humorous play that goes beneath the veneer of normalcy.

*This play touches on the subject of suicide; viewer discretion is recommended.
