Man charged following drugs seizure in north Mayo

Gardaí attached to the Mayo Roscommon Longford Divisional Drugs Unit carried out searches at two residential properties in north Mayo last Friday, January 16, as part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of controlled drugs.

The searches took place at properties located between Crossmolina and Bangor Erris and were conducted under warrant.

Gardaí were assisted during the operation by colleagues from the Mayo North Community Engagement Area, including members attached to Belmullet, Bangor Erris and Crossmolina Garda Stations.

During the searches, gardaí seized 26 cannabis plants.

Equipment used in the cultivation of the plants was also dismantled and rendered inoperable at the scene.

One male was arrested during the operation and taken to Belmullet Garda Station for questioning.

He has since been charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear before court next month.
