Construction of new gym for Mayo boxing club continues apace
The construction of the new Knockmore/Foxford Boxing Club gym is now well under way.
The main contractors, Clydesdale Construction, are estimating that the gym will be completed in early April, and Knockmore/Foxford BC remains hopeful of staging a huge tournament in the premises before the end of the current boxing season.
As construction continues, so too does fundraising, and Knockmore/Foxford BC held a successful bucket collection during Christmas week, and a generous donation from Healing Waters Community Church presented by Roddy Gallagher to club coaches.
The club is grateful to the families that helped make the collection a great success: Noney Smyth, Jona and John Gallagher, Louise, Martin and Michael McTigue, Cathal and Paul Timlin, Sè and Pauline Dempsey, and Jean and Tony Heavey.
The club has now set up a GoFundMe page to help get the gym project over the final hurdle and fully completed. Any support at all would be greatly appreciated.
In other club news, Alan Foley completed his IABA coaching course recently and is the latest addition to the coaching team, which now numbers seven.
