Mayo junior tennis star off to a winning start Down Under
Eoghan Jennings produced an impressive comeback performance in the first round of qualifying this morning, defeating Poland’s Jan Sadzik 0-6, 6-1, 6-2.
After dropping the opening set, Jennings responded in emphatic fashion, dominating the remainder of the match to secure his place in round two of the qualifying competition.
The Westport teenager will return to the court tomorrow as he continues his bid to reach the main draw of the Junior Australian Open, one of the four Grand Slam tournaments on the junior tennis calendar.
Jennings will now face Greece’s Odysseas Geladaris in the final, with the winner advancing to the draw for the tournament.
