Mayo People of the Year Awards on TV

THE highlights of the 33rd annual Rehab Mayo People of the Year Awards will be broadcast on TV Ireland over two weeks next month.

The first episode will be screened on SKY Channel 588 or Freeview 279 on Tuesday, February 17, at 8.30 p.m., with part two going out the following Tuesday, on the same channels at the same time.

Likewise, the episodes can be seen on TV Ireland YouTube.

The awards are organised by Mayo RehabCare, Mayo County Council and The Connaught Telegraph.

Bernard Hughes, chairman of the organising committee, said: “This year we were delighted to present awards to 22 individuals and groups, all of whom were worthy recipients.

“Henry McGlade of TV Ireland and his team were on hand to record the presentations at the gala function at Breaffy House Hotel, Castlebar, where over 350 guests gathered to honour the recipients.

“All the proceeds from the function go directly to RehabCare Mayo for the development of facilities at their headquarters at Breaffy Road, Castlebar.

“And the real winners are the 200 service users at the RehabCare Mayo headquarters who will benefit from the finds raised at the gala ball.”

Mr. McGlade, who interviewed the recipients, added: “Because of the large numbers involved we have divided the show into two parts, to be shown over two weeks.”
