One Mayo water issue resolved as crews now respond to burst in adjoining town
UISCE Éireann crews are responding to a burst water main which has impacted supply to customers in Ballina this morning, while a separate issue in Knockmore has been resolved.
Customers in Rathroeen, the Killala Road, Culleens, Breffni, Faranoo and surrounding areas of Ballina town may be impacted by water outages as a result of this burst.
Crews are currently on site and are working to repair the burst and restore supply as quickly as possible. To ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs and the safety of the public, traffic management will be in place and will be clearly signposted.
Separately, water supply is returning to Uisce Éireann customers in Knockmore who were impacted by an unplanned outage this morning. The outage was caused by a pump failure which has now been repaired.
Customers may continue to experience low pressure or reduced supply over the course of the afternoon while the network recharges. Alternative water supplies are being made available for impacted customers.
These water tankers are being deployed at the following locations:
Knockmore Church
Lisaniska School
Carrabeggan School
Customers are advised to use their own containers when taking water from a tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure, as per advice from the Health Service Executive.
Uisce Éireann’s Colette Scahill thanked impacted customers in Ballina and Knockmore for their understanding as they work to resolve these separate issues.
“We understand the inconvenience of unplanned outages and we thank customers for their support while our works continue,” she said.
