Wet and dull weekend ahead for Mayo as low pressure dominates

Mayo can expect a generally dull and unsettled weekend as low pressure continues to influence weather conditions across the country.

Saturday will be largely overcast, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle affecting much of the county throughout the day.

Conditions will turn drier later on, with some limited bright spells developing.

Daytime temperatures will range from 5 to 9 degrees, accompanied by moderate to fresh easterly winds.

On Saturday night, skies will remain mostly cloudy with further outbreaks of rain and drizzle.

Temperatures will dip to between 3 and 6 degrees, while easterly winds will remain moderate to fresh, becoming strong at times before turning more variable overnight.

Sunday will begin cloudy with widespread rain and drizzle once again. These outbreaks are expected to become less frequent as the day progresses, allowing some sunny spells to develop in places.

Highest temperatures will again range from 5 to 9 degrees. Winds will be moderate to fresh, becoming lighter and settling into an easterly direction later.

Sunday night will be mostly dry, apart from a few light patches of rain or drizzle.

While there will be some clear spells early on, cloud will increase from the southwest during the second half of the night, with more persistent rain reaching southwestern areas towards morning.

Overnight temperatures will fall to between 2 and 6 degrees, with light to moderate east to southeast winds.
