Briefing for Mayo councillors on farm inspections

COUNCILLORS in Mayo are to be briefed on farm inspections in the county and the criteria around them.

An environmental officer has been invited to give a presentation at the February meeting of the local authority.

The request was made by Councillor Patsy O'Brien following a public meeting in Belcarra recently where, he said, some anxiety was expressed by farmers.

Councillor O'Brien was told the environment section welcomes the opportunity to inform elected members of the farm inspection work taking place to protect water quality in County Mayo.
