Galway name strong team for Mayo's visit to Salthill
Galway manager Padraic Joyce has named a strong team to face Mayo in the opening round of the Allianz National Football League.
There are wholesale changes as the Tribesmen take on Mayo again just a week after defeating them by a point in the FBD League Cup final.
The game will be played tomorrow (Sunday) in Pearse Stadium, Salthill, throwing in at 1.45 p.m. Tickets are available online here and also in Centra and SuperValu stores in advance of the game.
The Galway starting team is as follows: Connor Gleeson; Johnny McGrath, Seán Fitzgerald, Jack Glynn; Finnian Ó Laoí, Dylan McHugh, Kieran Molloy; Seán Kelly, Matthew Tierney; Liam Silke, Ciarán Mulhern, Daniel O'Flaherty; Fionn McDonagh, Robert Finnerty, Oisín McDonagh.
The subs are: Conor Flaherty, Brian Cogger, Cian Hernon, Seán Ó Maoilchiaráin, Shay McGlinchey, Mattias Barrett, Cein Darcy, Shane McGrath, Mikey Mulryan, Shane Walsh, Liam Ó Conghaile.
The Mayo team selected by manager Andy Moran is much changed from last week also, lining out as follows: Robbie Hennelly; Eoin McGreal, Rory Brickenden, Enda Hession; Sam Callinan, Michael Plunkett, Sean Morahan; Bob Tuohy, David McBrien; Jack Carney, Ryan O'Donoghue, Jordan Flynn; Darragh Beirne, Aidan O'Shea, Tommy Conroy.
On the subs' bench are: Jack Livingstone, Liam Golden, Stephen Coen, Fenton Kelly, Paddy Durcan, Conal Dawson, Seamus Howard, Diarmuid Duffy, Fergal Boland, Cian McHale, James Carr.
Galway GAA is advising supporters to arrive early in order to avoid traffic congestion and potential delays entering the stadium. The game is an all-ticket affair, and there will be no tickets available to purchase at the grounds.
Turnstiles will be open for the terraces at the main entrance on Rockbarton Road and Arus Bóthar na Trá on Dr. Mannix Road. Entry to the stand is via the gates at the back of the stand. All gates will open at 12.30 p.m.
Patrons are encouraged to use car parks in Galway city and Salthill and then walk or take public transport to/from the grounds.
Car parking will be available to the public at St. Enda’s Secondary School (Colaiste Éinde) on Threadneedle Road (H91 X798). Patrons are reminded not to park on double yellow lines, on footpaths, or to block entrances to private residences. Gardaí will be operating mobile patrols in the vicinity of Pearse Stadium and in the adjoining residential areas before, during and after the game.
