Mayo motorists told to prepare for 'significant road closures'
THE North Connacht 110kV Project will result in 'significant road closures' on Ballina's Church Road (L1124), which leads to the N26 Foxford-Swinford road through Attymass.
Ballina Municipal District engineer Orla Bourke confirmed there would be road closures 'for a long duration.'
“It is unavoidable,” said Ms. Bourke, who added that there has been a lot of engagement with locals to date on the plans.
Through the project, EirGrid will be laying a new 110 kV underground electricity cable from the Moy substation in Ballina to the Tonroe substation in Ballaghaderreen, increasing grid capacity in the area and accommodating more renewable energy.
