New €1.5m. community benefit fund opens in Mayo

PUBLIC representatives in Mayo have been advised that phase one of EirGrid's North Connacht 110kV Project community benefit fund is now open for applications.

A total of €1.53 million is available for community projects and initiatives, with €612,000 of that available in phase one.

Declan Turnbull, head of Ballina MD, outlined that applications are available to volunteer groups under three strands: biodiversity, sustainability, and community.

The closing date for applications – which can be made online – is Friday, March 13.

An information event will be held on Wednesday, February 25, from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. in the Mary Robinson Centre, Ballina.
