Prices for all stock up at Mayo mart

PRICES were up for all stock at Balla Mart on Saturday, with a particularly fine yard of heavy cows.

Bullocks 300kg to 400kg averaged €4.63/kg, bullocks 400kg to 500kg averaged €4.25/kg, and those 500kg plus averaged €4.17/kg.

Tops in the bullocks were:

340kg CHX €1,950 (€5.74/kg)

445kg AAX €2,320 (€5.21/kg)

750kg CHX €3,320 (€4.43/kg)

895kg CHX €3,660 (€4.09/kg).

Heifers 300kg to 400kg averaged €5.16/kg, stock 400kg to 500kg averaged €4.60/kg, while heifers weighing in at 500kg plus averaged €4.47/kg.

Best in the heifers was a 655kg Limousin that made €5,000.

There were 130 cows for the third ring. The tops was a five-year-old cow weighing 945kg that made €4,260. Dry cows 500kg plus averaged €3.72/kg.

Best in the springers was a Limousin with its time up that made €5,000.

There was a sale of bull weanlings following the bullocks in ring one. Bulls 200kg to 350kg averaged €5.78/kg, bulls 350kg to 450kg averaged €4.93/kg, while bulls 450kg averaged €4.92/kg.
