Full water supply restored in Achill after successful pipe repairs

WATER supply has been restored to normal levels in Achill this morning after the successful repair of a burst main which impacted supply to customers yesterday.

Uisce Éireann crews completed repairs to the burst pipe at approximately 10 p.m. on Tuesday night. Reservoir levels were allowed to replenish overnight, and full supply had returned for affected customers by approximately 8 a.m. this morning.

Uisce Éireann customers in Sraheens, Derreens, Cloughmore, Currane, Polranny and surrounding areas were impacted by the outage, which was caused by a burst main yesterday afternoon.

Ronan McDonnell of Uisce Éireann thanked impacted customers for their understanding while crews worked to repair the burst and restore supply.

“We understand the inconvenience caused by an unplanned outage and we wish to thank impacted customers for their patience,” he said.

“Thanks also to the crews who worked late into the evening, in very difficult weather conditions, to repair the burst and restore supply for customers.”
