Heavy rain and flooding risk as low pressure persists across Mayo
Thursday, January 29 will bring a mix of bright or sunny spells and mostly cloudy conditions across Mayo, with scattered outbreaks of rain during the morning.
More persistent and heavy rain is expected to spread from the south-west during the afternoon and evening, raising the risk of localised flooding, particularly in areas where ground conditions are already saturated.
Daytime temperatures will range from 6 to 9 degrees, with moderate to fresh, gusty south-easterly winds, increasing to strong at times in exposed locations.
The national outlook confirms that low pressure will continue to dominate, bringing further showers or longer spells of rain across the country.
Thursday night will see rain affecting Connaught, Ulster and Leinster early on, before gradually clearing north-eastwards overnight.
Clear spells and scattered showers will then move in from the south-west, some of which may be heavy.
With high river levels and saturated ground, the risk of further localised flooding will remain.
Winds will be blustery at first but will ease overnight, with temperatures falling to between 3 and 6 degrees.
