St. Bridget Reimagined Mayo celebration

MULRANNY Arts is delighted to present Bridget Reimagined, a powerful celebration of Saint Bridget through music, song, story and visuals, taking place on Sunday, February 1, at 5 p.m. in Mulranny Church, as part of local St. Bridget’s Day celebrations.

Performed by the acclaimed ensemble Tale of the Gael, the production brings to life the story of the remarkable 6th century woman, a druid who later converted to Christianity and whose influence continues to shape Irish spiritual and cultural life.

The performance blends original text with traditional and newly composed music, poetry and song, creating a deeply atmospheric and uplifting experience.

The four-piece group, Tale of the Gael, features outstanding musicians: Brendan Tobin (flute), Brendan Wade (song, uilleann pipes and whistle), Catherine Rhatigan (harp), and Dave Aebli (guitar and bouzouki), joined on the day by three special guests, Seamus Gallagher and Prannie Rhatigan (percussion) and Eileen Carr (flute). The production is scripted and directed by Catherine Rhatigan.

Originally commissioned in 2023 as part of the National Bridget 1500 celebrations, Bridget Reimagined has since received standing ovations at St. Bridget’s Day performances across Europe in 2024 and 2025. Tale of the Gael has also performed for the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, the James Joyce Institute in Zurich, and Spanish Armada Ireland.

Tickets (€15 each) are available at www.mulrannyarts.com or on the door. Everyone is welcome.
