Dull start for Mayo before further rain spreads north on Friday
Friday, January 30 will begin dull and damp across Mayo, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle affecting many areas early in the day.
Some brighter spells are expected to develop through the morning, but conditions will deteriorate again as more persistent rain spreads from the south during the afternoon and evening.
Daytime temperatures will reach 7 to 9 degrees, with moderate to fresh south-easterly winds gradually easing to light and variable as the day goes on.
The national outlook indicates that unsettled conditions will continue, with further spells of rain and showers expected.
Friday night will see rain gradually becoming lighter and more patchy, with occasional clear spells developing.
Overnight temperatures will generally fall to between 1 and 6 degrees, with the coldest conditions in the south-west.
Under longer clear spells, temperatures may dip lower locally, allowing frost and icy patches to form. Winds will remain light to moderate and variable, though briefly fresher in north-eastern areas.
