Prominent Mayo solicitors' firm appoints new partner

A prominent Mayo solicitors’ firm has announced the appointment of a new partner, signalling further growth in its legal practice and an expanding client base across Mayo and the wider western region.

J.V. Geary Solicitors LLP, based at Linenhall Street, Castlebar, has confirmed that solicitor Patricia Lally has been appointed as Partner, joining Managing Partner John Geary and fellow Partner Ita Feeney in the leadership of the firm.

Ms. Lally has been part of the practice since 2014 and is widely regarded for her clear, practical approach to legal problem-solving and her strong record in court-based work.

Before joining the Castlebar firm, she trained and practised in Cork and Galway, where she developed significant experience in litigation and dispute resolution.

Managing Partner John Geary said the decision to elevate Patricia to partnership reflected both her professional expertise and her long-term contribution to the firm.

“Patricia has been an integral part of this practice for many years and has earned enormous respect from both clients and colleagues,” he said.

“She brings clarity, composure and sound legal judgment to every case she handles. Her promotion is a natural step and recognises the leadership role she already plays within the firm.”

Ms. Lally’s practice spans a broad range of civil litigation matters, including contractual disputes, land and property litigation and judicial review proceedings.

She also advises extensively in personal injury cases, including road traffic accidents, workplace injuries, fatal accident claims and medical negligence actions.

Alongside her court work, she advises a wide range of commercial clients, including property owners, business operators and professional landlords.

Her commercial practice includes advising on commercial leasing, lending arrangements and contractual issues, with a strong focus on helping clients manage risk and resolve disputes efficiently.

Family law is also a significant part of her work, and she regularly represents clients in separation and divorce proceedings, including matters involving children, maintenance and property division.

She is known for balancing firm representation with an understanding and supportive approach, helping clients reach practical outcomes during emotionally challenging periods.

Originally from Tourmakeady, Ms Lally attended Coláiste Muire before going on to study law at NUI Galway.

She later qualified as a solicitor and has built her career serving clients throughout Mayo and the west of Ireland.
