Mayo hurling team named for London game

Mayo make the trip to London this weekend for round two in Division 2 of the Allianz National Hurling League.

Following last weekend’s heavy defeat at home to Laois, manager Ray Larkin has made two changes to his starting team, with Padraic Mooney and Corey Scahill coming in to the line-up.

A number of the Tooreen players who helped the club reach the All-Ireland intermediate championship final have been added to the panel and take their place on the bench for Sunday's game as Mayo look to rebound from last week's loss.

Memorably, Mayo and London met twice in Division 3 of the league last year. The Metropolitans won the regular season game in Bekan but Mayo got revenge in the final, which was played at Manguard Park, Kildare, in late March.

London went on to win the Christy Ring Cup final later in the year, while Mayo were defeated in the Nickey Rackard Cup decider.

Throw-in on Sunday (February 1) for this year's London v Mayo league game is at 1 p.m. in Ruislip.

The Mayo team is as follows: Kevin Duffy; Michael Gallagher, Eoghan Collins, Padraic Mooney; Connor Murray, Diarmuid Phillips, Eoin Ryan; John Heraty, Oisin Ivers; Ronan Fallon, Cormac Phillips, Corey Scahill; Brendan Sheridan, Joseph Burke, Ryan Duffy.

The substitutes are: Martin Parsons, Colm Enright, Darren McTigue, Jack Trench, Sean McGhee, Anthony Rowland, Eoin Delaney, Daniel Huane, Shane Boland, David Kenny, Darren Murray.

Supporters making the trip to London are reminded that tickets must be purchased in advance either online here, or from selected Centra and SuperValu shops.
