Mayo community pays warm tributes to 'a true gem' Josie Scott

The death of Josie (Ted) Scott, Derryharriff, Castlebar, is deeply mourned in the community at large.

She died peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff in Mayo Hospice, surrounded by her family.

A hugely popular member of the staff of Mayo University Hospital for many years, fond tributes are being paid to her on social media.

One stated: "What an absolutely beautiful person Josie was, always so full of positive energy and a permanent twinkle in her eye.

"Loved meeting her in the corridors of the hospital when she worked there.

"Always a one-liner to make you laugh out loud. Heart of gold. God rest her soul. She will never be forgotten."

Another stated: "Josie was absolutely beautiful to her core, the world has lost a true gem."

A further tribute observed: "Josie (Ted) was a bright light to all and always full of fun and laughter. A helping hand to so many. May her gentle soul rest in peace."

Predeceased by her parents Tommie and Breege, aunt Annie Mae and nephew Adam, she is deeply regretted by her loving family: Breda (Mayock), Tom, Annette (Clarke), John, Peter, Mark and Maureen (Greaney), brothers-in-law Michael, Pat, Darren, sisters-in-law Sarah, Orna and Louise, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Deepest sympathy is tendered to the bereaved family on their loss.

Interment takes place today at the New Cemetery, Castlebar, after Requiem Mass in the Church of the Holy Rosary.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
