Top price of €7,100 for springer at Mayo mart

PRICES were up this week in the bullocks at Balla Mart, with a fine clearance and only five missed. There was a good selection of heavy bullocks, which got good buying by northern factory buyers.

Meanwhile, over in the cows, a springer made a top price of €7,100.

Bullocks 300kg to 400kg averaged €5.18/kg, bullocks 400kg to 500kg averaged €4.66/kg, and those 500kg plus averaged €4.29/kg.

Top prices in the bullocks included: 345kg CHX €2,460 (€7.13/kg); 450kg LMX €2,480 (€5.51/kg); 540kg CHX €2720 (€5.03/kg); 685kg LMX €3,260 (€4.75/kg); 790kg CHX €3,550 (€4.49/kg); 840kg CHX €3,700 (€4.40/kg); 900kg BBX €3,900 (€4.33/kg).

Heifers 300kg to 400kg averaged €5.07/kg, heifers 400kg to 500kg averaged €4.58/kg, and those 500kg plus averaged €4.45/kg.

Best in the heifers was a BBX 690kg that made €4,900.

Top prices in the heifers included: 295kg CHX €1,810 (€6.14/kg); 335kg CHX €2,140 (€6.39/kg); 450kg LMX €3,120 (€6.93/kg); 575kg BBX €3,250 (€5.65/kg); 690kg BBX €4,900 (€7.10/kg).

Dry cows 500kg plus averaged €3.58/kg and tops was a four-year-old weighing 930kg that made €4,000.

Best in the springers was a Belgian Blue with its time up on March 12 that was bought online for €7,100.
