Institute of Directors present award in memory of Mayo native

THE Institute of Directors (IoD) Ireland has announced that Michael Tangney has been awarded the annual Tom Byrne Award at their graduation ceremony held in Thomas Prior House, Ballsbridge.

Established in memory of the late Tom Byrne, from Kiltimagh, the award recognises excellence in academic achievement as well as individual participation in, contribution to and engagement with the Chartered Director Programme.

Michael Tangney is finance director, EMEA Google Customer Solutions, Google Ireland, and has been with Google for many years, progressing through multiple global operational and treasury roles, most recently Head of International Treasury, a role he held from 2019 to 2022.

Mayoman Tom Byrne was president of IoD Ireland from 2011 to 2013 and sadly passed away in 2021.

At the graduation ceremony, Michael was commended for his dedication throughout and his outstanding results which underlined his commitment to the programme.
