Issues on busy road in Mayo county town raised
A NUMBER of issues on the Newport Road in Castlebar have been highlighted by Councillor Ger Deere at a municipal meeting.
Line markings are needed at the entrance of Patrician Park. It's a wide entrance, said Councillor Deere, and it needs to be lined properly, with cars swinging in very quickly.
Speeding is also an issue on the road that needs to be addressed.
It's 'gone crazy', he said, particularly late at night. On Christmas night he met a convoy of at least 50 souped-up cars heading out to Derrinumera.
The speed van and enforcement needs to be looked at, he said.
And a pedestrian crossing, Councillor Deere added, is needed at Blackfort to facilitate people heading up Castle Lane to Lough Lannagh.
