Mist and fog to clear before rain arrives in Mayo on Monday

Mayo will see a dry start to Monday, February 9, though mist and fog patches will be slow to clear during the morning.

Cloud will thicken through the day, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle spreading northwards from the south during the afternoon.

Despite the damp turn later on, temperatures will remain fairly mild for the time of year, reaching highs of 7 to 9 degrees.

Winds will be light to moderate from the east.

Nationally, the outlook remains cloudy and damp with rain, drizzle and mist, though conditions are expected to turn brighter and colder later in the week.

Monday night will stay cloudy and misty with further patches of fog developing.

Patchy rain or drizzle will affect parts of the north and east early in the night, before spreading into the west and southwest later on.

Lowest temperatures will fall to between 3 and 6 degrees in light and variable winds.
