National Hill Sheep Conference coming to Mayo
THE Teagasc National Hill Sheep Conference is taking place on Wednesday, February 18, at 7 p.m. in the Westport Woods Hotel, Westport.
Attendees will gain an insight into the Teagasc Hill Sheep Research Programme and water quality in the Irish uplands. The presentations will be followed by a forum on marketing hill lamb.
Conference chairperson is Vivian Silke, regional manager, Teagasc, with Professor Frank O’Mara, Teagasc director, on hand for the conference opening at 7 p.m.
The line-up of speakers and topics is:
7.10 p.m.: Teagasc Hill Sheep Research Programme - Dr. Frank Campion, Teagasc.
7.40 p.m.: Water Quality in the Irish Uplands - Dr. Shaun Roarty, Teagasc ASSAP advisor.
8.10 p.m.: Forum - Marketing Hill Lamb, chaired by Darren Carty, Irish Farmers Journal. Panellists include Seamus McMenamin, Bord Bia, James Smyth, Irish Country Meats, Brendan Joyce, hill sheep farmer, Galway, and Teresa Gibsey, Ballinrobe Mart manager.
