Minister Dillon urges Mayo organisations to apply for €4 million pilot grant scheme

Minister of State Alan Dillon TD has welcomed the launch of the New Solutions Social Innovation Pilot Grant Scheme and is strongly encouraging organisations across Mayo to apply for this significant funding opportunity.

The €4 million scheme, co funded by the European Social Fund 2021–2027 and the Department of Rural and Community Development, aims to strengthen Ireland’s social innovation ecosystem by supporting early stage ideas that can deliver better outcomes for communities, particularly those facing disadvantage.

Minister Dillon said the scheme represents “a major opportunity for Mayo based organisations, social enterprises, and community innovators to test new ideas, trial new services, and develop solutions that can make a real difference locally.”

The scheme will support a minimum of 40 projects, offering grants ranging from €70,000 to €100,000 over a 24 month period. Successful applicants will also gain access to the New Solutions Social Innovation Hub, which provides mentoring, training, peer networking, and tailored supports to help projects succeed.

Minister Dillon highlighted the importance of ensuring strong Mayo participation: “Mayo has no shortage of creativity, community leadership, and innovative thinking. I want to see Mayo organisations well represented in this fund. Whether you’re tackling social isolation, improving access to services, supporting young people, or developing new community led models, this scheme is designed to help you bring your ideas to life.”

The Pilot Grants are aimed at initiatives that have moved beyond the idea stage and are ready to be tested in real world settings. Projects will participate in monthly check ins, quarterly progress updates, and shared learning activities to help strengthen Ireland’s wider social innovation sector.

Applications close on March 13 next at 6 p.m. Online application clinics will take place on February 18 and 25, and Mayo applicants are strongly encouraged to attend for guidance on eligibility and the application process.

Pobal, which supports the Department in implementing the New Solutions Social Innovation Fund, welcomed the launch and emphasised the programme’s role in supporting organisations developing new approaches to social inclusion.

Minister Dillon concluded: “This is a chance for Mayo organisations to secure substantial funding, build capacity, and pilot new solutions that can deliver lasting impact for our communities. I strongly encourage groups across the county to explore this opportunity and apply.”
