Mayo issued with ice warning as temperatures set to plunge

A low temperature and ice warning is in place for the county from 9 p.m. on Friday, February 13 until 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, with temperatures expected to fall to between -1 and -3 degrees.

The warning highlights the potential for hazardous travelling conditions, with icy roads and footpaths likely to develop overnight.

Meanwhile, a Status Yellow rain and snow warning will come into effect from 12 p.m. on Saturday, February 14 until midnight on Sunday, February 15.

Forecasters have warned that heavy rain at times, turning to sleet or snow, along with strengthening winds, could lead to difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility.

Members of the public are being advised to exercise caution, particularly motorists and pedestrians during the warning periods.
