Clean sheet as Mayo club progress in Connacht Women's Shield

BALLYGLASS kept a clean sheet in a four-goal victory away to Corrib Rangers in the first round of the Connacht Women's Shield.
The visitors led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Ava Keane, who doubled their advantage soon after the restart on their Sunday trip to Galway.
Emily Vahey stretched that lead on the hour mark, with Holly Donovan making their progression secure 10 minutes later in what was a good win for the Mayo side.
Meanwhile, on a day that saw some fierce winter weather, Ballina Town and Straide & Foxford saw their Connacht Shield match abandoned with about 25 minutes played following a downpour. S&F had been a goal to the good at the time.
That game has been rescheduled for Sunday next at 2 p.m.
