Mayo community mourning death of 'wonderful personality' Jimmy Golding

A Mayo community is mourning the passing of one of its most popular personalities.

The death at Mayo Hospice of Jimmy Golding, Main Street, Balla, has evoked an outpouring of sadness and loss.

Predeceased by his wife Twinkle (nee Daly, Ballina), his son Jarlath, his parents, brother Mick and his sisters Dell, Eva, Geraldine and Sally, Jimmy will be sadly missed by his daughter Tonya Melody (Ennis) sons Conrad (Balla), Gareth (Boston, USA)and Ronan (Connecticut, USA), daughters-in-law Deirdre, Ger, Maura and Alison and his son-in-law Dermot, grandchildren Rylee, Cillian, Iarlaith, Aisling, Meabh, Nolan, Leo, Hugh, Eamon and Marcus.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

The deceased was widely throughout the region, calling into local shops and businesses over many years as a popular sales representative.

Many warm tributes have been paid to the deceased since his passing.

One stated: "A gentleman of the highest order. He loved his football but, above all, he loved his family."

"Jimmy was great company and a wonderful personality," another said.

Jimmy will be returning to his son Conrad’s home today (Sunday) at 4.30 p.m. for family and friends.

His remains will repose at the Balla Funeral Home on Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass takes at 12 noon in St. Cronan’s Church, Balla, on Tuesday, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
