Car being driven by disqualified motorist is seized by Mayo gardaí on N5

Gardaí from the Mayo Roads Policing Unit have seized a vehicle driving by a disqualified motorists on the N5.

The detection was made on the garda mobility app.

As well as the disqualification, the vehicle had no NCT, tax or insurance.

The driver now faces a court appearance, up to two years imprisonment, a fine of up to €5,000 and a further lengthy ban from driving.

A garda spokesperson said: "Driving while disqualified is not a mistake — it is a deliberate choice that endangers every other road user."
