Book of evidence served on woman charged with assault on Mayo garda
A book of evidence has been served on a Belmullet woman who is charged with assaulting a member of An Garda Síochána.
Yvonne Ginty, aged 31, of Slieve Mor View, Belmullet, is accused of assault causing harm to Garda Sinead O’Malley on February 14, 2025.
The case came before Belmullet District Court in December when Judge Sandra Murphy refused jurisdiction after hearing the facts and reviewing medical evidence.
The case was returned to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), who directed trial on indictment at Castlebar Circuit Criminal Court.
At last Wednesday’s sitting of Belmullet District Court, Garda Sarah Cosgrave gave evidence of serving the book of evidence on Ginty.
Judge Murphy granted an application for legal aid to Ginty’s solicitor, Mr. Gary Mulchrone, and certified for one junior counsel.
She returned Ginty for trial to the current sitting of the Castlebar Circuit Criminal Court on March 9.
