Family of nurse killed in hit and run has links with Mayo

THE young nurse killed in a hit and run on her way to work in Limerick last weekend has Mayo links.

Áine O’Reilly, aged in her 30s, died following the crash, which happened late last Friday night, February 13, on the N24 near Grange West, Boher.

Her father Eugene, a retired garda and a native of Cavan, was stationed in Mayo for a time during his career, as well as serving in Limerick, Bruff, Henry Street and Cappamore before moving to Pallasgreen in Limerick in 1983. He retired in 2009.

Ms. O'Reilly, the sole occupant of one of three cars involved in the collision, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Her funeral Mass took place at St. John the Baptist Church, Nicker, this morning (Wednesday), with burial afterwards in St. Columba’s Cemetery near her home at Pallasgreen.

Ms. O'Reilly is survived by her heartbroken parents Eugene and Ann, brothers Eoin, James and Conor, sister-in-law Aisling, nephew Dáire, aunts, uncles, relatives and a wide circle of friends.
