MUSIC, in several forms, features in the Linenhall’s upcoming scheduling. There is also a wonderful array of enticing visual arts activities to absorb.

Limited tickets remain available for the illustrious social media sensation Patrick Dexter on Thursday, February 19, with his ultra charmed solo cello performance.

To Friday, February 20, when the brainchild of Frankie McCafferty, writer and performer of Lisdoon-Nirvana, will be presented. Suitable for those aged 14 plus, witness through the eyes of Macker, 17, the folk and rock glory of the Irish equivalent of Glastonbury, which was Lisdoonvarna.

Set in 1983, Ireland was a country in transition - recession, church oppression, emigration and Troubles, yet there was still Smithwicks’s in the rucksack and adventure ahead.

The Linenhall is excited to welcome back Clann Machua Drama on Saturday, February 21, with Greta Garbo Came to Donegal, penned by Frank McGuinness.

Ireland is on the verge of violent change, two couples are on the verge of ending, a woman tries to save her family, a girl tries to save her future. Above it all but in the midst of things, determining what happens next, is the loveliest and loneliest of all women, the great Garbo.

JOHN DENVER

Marc Roberts' acclaimed A Tribute to the Music of John Denver on Wednesday, February 25, encompasses Denver’s greatest hits, including ‘Annie’s Song’, ‘Leaving On A Jet Plane’, ‘Take Me Home Country Roads’ and ‘Calypso’. The life and music of John Denver is also narrated by Roberts, against a vivid multimedia backdrop.

ART

In the realm of visual arts, The Beauty of Ukrainian Folk Art, a two-part Petrykivka painting workshop, begins on Saturday, February 28. A vibrant Ukrainian folk decorative art form, which is recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, this is a unique opportunity to embrace.

In relation to current exhibition Silent Parlours, which is displayed until February 28, as well as viewing it, which is highly recommended, are a number of additional engagements. The next Azure Dementia Inclusive Gallery Tour, with Joanna Hopkins, scheduled on Thursday, February 26, peruses it. Lucy Sheridan and Eleanor McCaughey also discuss the background and context of their joint exhibition, Silent Parlours, as well as reviewing the wider themes within their respective practices, at a special talk on February 28.

FILM

Movie fans can rejoice in the next Linenhall Film Club installment, Better Days, which screens in the intimate Linenhall Theatre space on Tuesday, February 24 - a compelling and emotional drama about addiction, recovery, and the connections that make healing possible.
