Rain to sweep across Mayo as unsettled conditions continue

Rain will spread across Mayo from the west on the morning of Thursday, February 26, bringing a dull and breezy day before brighter conditions develop later.

According to Met Éireann, outbreaks of rain and drizzle will move in from the Atlantic during the morning hours, creating largely overcast conditions.

The rain is expected to track south eastwards through the afternoon and into the evening, clearing for a time and allowing for some brighter spells before nightfall.

Temperatures will remain mild, with highest values of 9 to 11 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds.

The broader national outlook points to generally unsettled weather in the days ahead, with further spells of rain and showers pushing in from the Atlantic.

While a brief colder snap is forecast for Friday night and into Saturday, temperatures overall are expected to stay close to, or slightly above, average for the time of year.

On Thursday night, further outbreaks of rain will spread across the country early in the night, turning heavy at times.

The rain will gradually clear eastwards later, giving way to isolated showers and some clear spells. Lowest temperatures are expected to fall to between 3 and 7 degrees in a light westerly breeze.
