Frost warning for Mayo as temperatures set to plunge overnight
Mayo will see a brighter day this Friday, February 27, with some sunshine and just a few showers expected.
Temperatures will reach between 7 and 10 degrees in moderate northwesterly winds.
However, conditions will deteriorate sharply overnight as skies clear and temperatures drop to as low as minus 3 degrees in parts.
Widespread frost and icy patches are expected to form on roads and footpaths, with motorists advised to take care if travelling in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The broader national outlook remains unsettled, with Met Éireann indicating that rain and showers will continue to push in from the Atlantic over the coming days.
Temperatures are expected to remain below normal on Friday and Saturday before recovering closer to seasonal averages from Sunday onwards.
