Calleary says supports in place for workers affected by Mayo job losses
The Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary, has said a range of State supports are available to workers impacted by the announcement of job losses at Cosmetic Creations in Claremorris.
In a statement issued today, Minister Calleary said his immediate thoughts were with the employees and their families facing uncertainty following the company’s decision.
“Following the announcement from Cosmetic Creations in Claremorris, my immediate thoughts are with the workers and their families who are dealing with this difficult news,” he said.
“Our priority now is to ensure that those affected employees will receive access to all necessary supports without delay.”
The minister confirmed that officials from the Department of Social Protection are available to assist those affected and urged employees to make contact as soon as possible.
“Department of Social Protection staff are available to assist employees. Employees are advised to visit their local Intreo Centre for support,” he said.
He added that a range of income supports are in place, along with assistance measures to help people secure alternative employment or access further education and training opportunities.
“There are a range of income supports available, and assistance to move to alternative employment, or to access appropriate education, training, and development options,” the minister stated.
