Bright start before heavy showers sweep across Mayo
Mayo is set for a largely dry and bright start on Monday, March 2 before conditions turn more unsettled as the day progresses.
Sunshine will feature widely early on, offering a crisp and pleasant beginning for most areas.
However, cloud will steadily build through the morning, with breezy conditions developing as scattered showers push in from the north-west.
Some of these showers are expected to turn heavy at times, bringing bursts of rain during the late morning and early afternoon. The rain will gradually clear south-eastwards later in the day, with drier and sunnier spells returning into the evening.
Highest temperatures will range from 9 to 11 degrees in freshening south-westerly winds.
Winds will ease later in the evening, becoming light north-westerly.
Looking ahead, high pressure is forecast to become more dominant through the week, bringing generally dry and bright conditions.
However, a spell of wetter weather is likely on Thursday.
Temperatures are expected to remain close to or slightly above average for early March, though nights will be notably colder, with frost and icy patches possible.
On Monday night, any lingering showers will die out early, leaving cold and dry conditions with long clear spells.
Temperatures will fall to between 0 and 4 degrees, with frost and ice forming in places.
Some mist patches may also develop in light northerly breezes.
