Mayo parish grieves passing of 'one of life’s great characters' Joe Dillon
The death of Joseph (Joe) Dillon, Cullintra, Ballintubber, is deeply mourned in the community.
A member of a widely-respected and popular family, he died peacefully at Mayo Roscommon Hospice surrounded by his loving family.
Predeceased by his loving wife Bridie, Joe will be sadly missed by his family: son Declan, daughters Patricia and Sandra, daughter-in-law Andrea, sons-in-law Barry and Darren, grandchildren Rebeka, Kyle, Joshua and Alex, brothers, Ollie and Gerry, sister Vera, brothers-in -law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives neighbours and a wide circle of friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.
Mr. Dillon was an uncle of Mayo TD and Minister of State Alan Dillon.
Joe was also predeceased by his parents Pat and Annie, brothers John and Chris and his sister Mary.
Described in a social media tribute as 'one of life’s great characters', he had a long association with Ballintubber GAA Club.
Remains reposing at Killawalla Community Centre on Friday evening from 5.30 until 7.30 p.m.
Funeral Mass on Saturday in Ballintubber Abbey at 2 p.m. with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
