Two Mayo teenagers who died in tragic road accident to be laid to rest

The funeral arrangements have been announced for two Mayo teenagers who lost their lives following a road crash near Ballina in the early hours of Sunday morning last.

Padraic Tuffy (19), Adara House, Station Road, Ballina, will be laid to rest in Leigue Cemetery, Ballina, on Friday following Requiem Mass in St. Muredach’s Cathedral at 11.30 a.m.

Reposing at McGowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina, on Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.

The interment of Cian Farrell (18), Libadore, Ballina, will take place in Ballinahaglish Cemetery on Saturday following Requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m. in St. Muredach’s Cathedral.

Three other occupants of the car in which they were travelling luckily escaped serious injury.

Tributes have been flooding in to Padraic and Cian as well as condolences to their families.

One friend has posted on Rip.ie that Padraic was “so excited” to have a song published on Spotify.

The young musician, eldest son of Seamus and Caroline Tuffy, is described in his death notice as “an amazing big brother” to his siblings Matthew and Kristen.

Padraic is also survived by his grandparents, Michael and Chrissie Kelly.

One tribute to Padraic describes him as “a beautiful young man” and “too good for this world."

Cian Farrell, described as “adored” and “a loving son,” is survived by his mother, Louise, and his brothers Mikey and Jimmy.

He is described in one condolence as “such a handsome boy with his curly mop of hair."

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved families on their immeasurable loss.

May the gentle souls of the deceased rest in peace.

Meanwhile, gardai are continuing with their request for witnesses to the fatal tragedy which occurred around 4.15 a.m. on Sunday at Laghtadawanannagh, on a local link road, the L5140, near Ballina.

The minor route links the Killala road out of Ballina with the Ballina to Crossmolina road.
