Settled conditions to continue across Mayo

A cold start is in store for Mayo tomorrow (Friday), but it will give way to a bright and largely sunny day across the county.

Early morning frost and some icy stretches are expected, particularly on untreated roads, so motorists are being advised to take care during the morning commute.

Conditions will improve steadily as the day progresses with dry weather and good spells of sunshine forecast throughout Friday.

Afternoon temperatures are expected to reach between 9 and 11 degrees, with light to moderate southwesterly winds keeping conditions generally calm.

Looking ahead to the weekend, the outlook is mostly dry to start before a more unsettled spell develops later.

Friday night will remain dry with largely clear skies. Temperatures will fall to between -2 and +3 degrees, with the coldest conditions inland. Atlantic coastal areas will stay somewhat milder due to light to moderate southerly breezes.

Overall, forecasters say the weekend will begin settled, but conditions are expected to turn more unsettled by Sunday.
