Mayo Young Sports Stars: Rugby player reaches significant milestones

Our rugby winner in The Connaught Telegraph Mayo Young Sportstars Awards 2025, Dylan Rice, played underage rugby with Castlebar RFC and also represented his school, St. Gerald’s College, before joining Ballina RFC in 2024.

In October of that year, the exciting young back-row made his debut for the Ireland Under 18 club selection away to Italy in Padua.

He also reached another significant milestone in his fledging career in November last year when he lined out for a north Connacht selection against south Connacht.

Dylan played a starring role that night, scoring a try in a 32-31 victory for north Connacht. He also played for the Connacht Under 19 team against Leinster in an interprovincial clash last August.

Rice currently plays with Ballina in the Connacht Rugby Junior 1A League and has enjoyed a starring role for the Heffernan Park side.

His exploits see him recognised as an award winner in The Connaught Telegraph Mayo Young Sportstars Awards, which will be held in Breaffy House Resort, Castlebar, on Friday next, March 13.
