Kobe’s signed jersey scores big for charity at Mayo quiz fundraiser

Gifted teenage footballer Kobe McDonald has helped raise vital funds for charity by donating a signed jersey for a major fundraising event.

Kobe’s autographed jersey fetched €400 when it came under the hammer at a fundraising quiz in An Sportlann, Castlebar, at the weekend.

The quiz, which attracted huge interest with almost 300 participants (74 tables) competing, was held in honour of the late John Dolan and raised a hugely significant sum for the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust (KBRT).

John (28), a native of Castlebar, was living and working in Brussels last October when he died having earlier contracted a very rare form of cancer.

KBRT was an enormous help to John’s parents and family at a time of such great loss and sadness, giving them support and advice.

John Dolan’s family have thanked all who participated in the weekend quiz, stating the support is a source of great comfort as they continue to grieve the loss of their loved one.
