Rain to spread across Mayo with unsettled conditions continuing

Tuesday will bring mostly cloudy conditions across Mayo with outbreaks of rain or drizzle expected through much of the day.

The morning will begin dull with patchy rain and drizzle.

Conditions may improve slightly later in the morning and into the early afternoon as the rain becomes more scattered for a time.

However, more persistent rain is forecast to extend from the west later in the day.

Highest temperatures will range between 9 and 12 degrees as moderate to fresh south-west winds develop.

The broader outlook for the country points to generally unsettled weather in the days ahead, with rain or showers likely on a daily basis.

Conditions are expected to turn particularly wet and windy for a time on Thursday, with cooler air following later.

Rain will clear eastwards into the Irish Sea early in the night, leaving largely dry conditions with clear spells developing.

However, scattered showers will continue to affect mainly Atlantic coastal counties, with a chance of hail in places.

Lowest temperatures will fall to between 3 and 6 degrees.

Some mist and fog patches may develop overnight as moderate to fresh south-west to west winds gradually ease.
