Mixed conditions to persist across Mayo
Forecaster expect the weather to remain largely dry and bright for much of Wednesday, although scattered showers will develop through the day.
Sunny spells will break through the cloud at times, bringing some pleasant intervals, but showers will occur in places before cloud increases more noticeably later in the evening.
Highest temperatures will range from 8 to 10 degrees in moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, with the strongest winds likely along coastal areas.
The wider national outlook suggests an unsettled pattern taking hold, with a mobile Atlantic system bringing spells of rain or showers on most days.
Winds are also expected to become strong at times, with a transition to cooler air later on Thursday. This could lead to some wintry showers and the risk of thunderstorms developing into Friday.
Wednesday night will turn increasingly windy as showery outbreaks of rain move in, with the heaviest falls expected in northwestern counties.
Southwesterly winds will strengthen, becoming fresh to strong and gusty overnight. Lowest temperatures will fall to between 5 and 8 degrees.
