Mayo meets Munich for St. Patrick's Day celebrations
Having spent St. Patrick's Day showcasing their talents in Boston last year, Moffatt School of Irish Dancing members are going European in 2026, adding Munich to the list of international performance locations.
Exciting times are in store once again as 10 championship-level dancers prepare to travel to the Bavarian city for the St. Patrick's Festival Munich.
Departing from Dublin on Friday (March 13), the troupe will proudly represent their county, performing across the weekend and taking part in the festival parade on Sunday (March 15).
“We are so thankful to have this opportunity,” said Sheila Moffatt, principal of Moffatt School of Irish Dancing. “Following last year’s success in America, we are grateful to bring a piece of Mayo talent and showcase it in Germany.”
While the troupe performs internationally, Moffatt School of Irish Dancing members will also take part in several local St. Patrick’s Day events, as follows: March 15 – Foxford (performing alongside CCÉ Admiral Brown); March 17 – Ballycastle parade; March 17 – Bangor parade (12.30 p.m.); March 17 – Crossmolina Mass (11.30 a.m.).
The trip to Munich will also serve as a lovely social event for the dancers. Once they return, the focus will shift to the Irish Open Championship and the World Championships, with a strong representation from the northwest hoping to bring home more silverware.
While Moffatt School has a large cohort of competitive dancers, their non-competitive dancers are just as strong, both in numbers and performance quality, making the school a vibrant hub for Irish dance talent of all levels.
The school extends its heartfelt thanks to the festival committee in Munich as well as the parents and dancers at home whose dedication has helped make these performances possible.
