Fond Mayo tributes to 'remarkable woman' Mary Finnerty

The death has occurred of Mary Finnerty (née Walsh), Charles Street, Castlebar, and formerly of Ballintubber.

Mary, a much loved and respected personality, passed away in her 98th year.

A tribute on the Ballintubber Abbey Facebook page described Mary as "a remarkable woman with a great sense of fun who lived a long and full life."

Another tribute said Mary was "one in a million and always in great spirits."

Mary is deeply regretted by her heartbroken family: Mary (Castlebar), Oliver (Ballintubber), Pauline (Bofeenaun), Martin (Ballintubber) and Christina (London), sons-in-law Denis, Gerry and Colin, daughter-in-law Noreen, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sister-in-law Mary, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends, to whom sympathy is extended.

She was predeceased by her parents Margaret and Martin, brother Martin, beloved husband Philip, cherished grandson Robert and daughter- in-law Joan.

Remains reposing at Ballintubber Resource Centre this evening (Friday) from 5.30 until 7.30p.m.

Funeral Mass takes place on Saturday in Ballintubber Abbey at 11 a.m. with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
