Mayo parish grieves passing of 'a great family man'

The death of Tommie Joe (TJ) Nally, Lisrobert, Clogher, Claremorris, is widely mourned.

He died peacefully in the wonderful care of Mayo Hospice.

A tribute on the Ballintubbber Abbey Facebook page stated: "Tommie Joe was a great family man and always a pleasure to meet, with a great story to tell.

"He had many passions in life — playing cards, farming, politics and football. He attended countless matches and was a proud supporter of Ballintubber GAA and Mayo."

He is deeply regretted by his wife Mary (née McHale, Caurane, Parke), sons Kieran (Clogher) and Tomas (Clogher), daughters Marie Reilly (Cloondeash), Paula McHale (Cloondeash) and Breda Prendergast (Mountpleasant), brother Willie (Holland), sister Sr. Annie Mary (Sisters of Mercy, Cork), daughters-in-law Orla and Tara, sons-in-law John, Enda and Kenneth, grandchildren Ethan, Kayla, Ría, William, Katelyn, Sean, Kayden, Keefe, Kalum and Eabha, nephews, nieces, brother in law, sister in law, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Sympathy is tendered to the bereaved family on their loss.

TJ was predeceased by his parents Dan and Bridget, sister Kathleen Mc Kenna, grandson baby Finn and nephew Shaun.

Tommie Joe will repose at the Carnacon Community Centre this evening (Friday) from 5 until 7 p.m.

Funeral will arrive at St Mary's Church, Carnacon, on Saturday for Requiem Mass at 2 p.m. with interment afterwards in Drum Cemetery.
