Mayo Young Sports Stars: First winner of Inclusive Club of the Year Award

The Inclusive Club of the Year is a new category in The Connaught Telegraph Mayo Young Sportstars Awards this year, and the inaugural winner is Manulla FC.

The central Mayo club is a standout example of the principles of the Sport Ireland Disability in Sport Charter in action.

Through their long established and genuinely collaborative relationship with Mayo Autism Camp, who are based at the club grounds, Manulla FC have created a culture of openness where autistic individuals and their families are visible, valued and a natural part of everyday club life.

The club's coaches, volunteers and members demonstrate a positive, person-centred attitude, adapting their approach to ensure everyone feels welcome, supported and included.

By sharing their facilities in a way that promotes comfort and familiarity, the club removes barriers for opportunities for engagement in both sporting and community activities.

Manulla FC not only provide an accessible and inclusive environment, but also actively promote inclusion through club actions, setting a powerful example for others.

Club representatives will be presented with their award at the gala ceremony in Breaffy House Resort on Friday, March 13.
