Rain to spread across Mayo on Saturday
Mayo can expect a mostly dry start to Saturday, with some early sunshine giving way to thickening cloud through the morning as patchy rain and drizzle spreads in from the west during the afternoon.
Highest temperatures will reach 7 to 10 degrees in light to moderate westerly winds — a milder feel than the bitter cold of the preceding days.
Saturday night will turn wetter as winds back south to southwest, heralding further outbreaks of rain and drizzle pushing in from the Atlantic.
The rain will become patchier towards morning with some clearer breaks developing. Lowest temperatures will fall to between 3 and 7 degrees.
Looking ahead to Sunday, conditions will again turn cool and breezy with sunny spells and scattered showers, some of which could turn wintry later in the day with a chance of hail or sleet.
Temperatures will range from 5 to 10 degrees in fresh to strong westerly winds.
With St Patrick's Day falling on Tuesday, current indications point to a mostly cloudy and damp start before rain and drizzle clear southeastwards and conditions brighten from the west through the day.
